After missing Paris Saint-Germain’s triumph over Olympique de Marseille in Sunday’s Le Classique, Nuno Mendes (21) and Marquinhos (29) are both set to return for the Coupe de France tie against Stade Rennais on Wednesday.

It has been a tight turnaround for PSG, who arrived back in Paris in the early hours of Monday morning. The players were back at training on Monday morning, and amongst them was Marquinhos, who has been absent since mid-February with an achilles tendon injury, and Mendes, who missed Sunday’s match with muscle fatigue.

It is expected that both will at least be in the group to face Rennes in the Coupe de France semi-final, but speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Luís Enrique did not give an indication of whether any would be fit enough to start the encounter. “The two players have recovered,” began the Spanish manager. “But it is one thing to recover to train and another to participate [in a match]. I don’t take any risks with any players, even if it is tempting to have our captain starting,” he added.

After facing Les Rennais on Wednesday, Les Parisiens then face Clermont Foot in Ligue 1 on Saturday, before a UEFA Champions League encounter with Barcelona on Wednesday.
