Nuno Espírito Santo was keen to move on from a “bad” day at the office for Wolves at West Ham.
The Hammers took the lead in the 17th minute through winger Jarrod Bowen.
Without manager David Moyes on the sideline due his enforced isolation after he tested positive for COVID-19, the hosts pushed on after the break to add further goals from Bowen, Raúl Jiménez (OG), and Sébastien Haller.
Asked about his side’s listless performance, Nuno couldn’t pin it down to one issue.
“We played very, very bad. We made mistakes, we didn’t play good and West Ham were better than us. Since the beginning, we were defensively very bad,” the Portugal native said.
“It was numerous factors. Lack of concentration, anxiety and mistakes. No organisation, something we have to look at and improve. We were not able to break them and in the second-half, very bad.”
There was a question mark over West Ham’s first goal, as it was not entirely clear if the ball had stopped moving before Pablo Fornals took a quick free-kick to play Bowen in.
However, Nuno refused to look for excuses for the defeat.
“The referee decided. I’m not sure if the ball was moving,” the Wolves boss said.
“At the moment I thought we must stop the game and not allow a fast free-kick that got us with no organisation, no balance, but the game was beyond this moment.”
The Molineux outfit have a week to dust themselves down before hosting Fulham next Sunday.
