Wolves captain Conor Coady missed his first league contest in three years on Monday despite testing negative for COVID-19 after coming into contact with a person who tested positive over the international break.

Coady was able to watch from the stands as Wolves battled to a 1-1 draw, thanks to an equaliser from substitute Pedro Neto after Theo Walcott’s first Southampton goal since his return.

Romain Saïss also missed the clash after testing positive himself.

Following the draw, Nuno slammed Premier League protocols for leaving him without his star centre-back for Monday Night Football.

“Conor will start the next training session with us,” Nuno said after the match.

“I don’t know how many more days’ isolation Saïss has, but it’s too much time. Conor has spent so many days in isolation [even though] during the two tests he took he was negative, and he has already had the virus [in March].

“The protocols make it very hard for all the teams. Fortunately, the international breaks have stopped until March and that will allow the teams to prepare better.”

After earning the valuable point, Wolves are left in ninth place in the Premier League table on 14 points.
