Bayern Munich star Noussair Mazraoui has reportedly told his employers that he wants to cut ties with them even as he edges close to joining Manchester United.

It’s looking increasingly likely that United will part ways with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is on the brink of becoming the latest addition to Julen Lopetegui’s squad at West Ham.

At the moment, United’s top target to replace the departing Wan-Bissaka is Mazraoui.

Over the weekend, it emerged that the Red Devils had reached a “verbal agreement” for Mazraoui to complete a switch from Bayern to Old Trafford.

This information was later corroborated by The Guardian, who relayed that Erik ten Hag’s side reached middle ground with Bayern at around the £15m and £20m mark.

The Morocco international seemed set to join West Ham, but that transfer collapsed after the Hammers and Mazraoui’s agent failed to strike an agreement over commissions. The player was also not very enthusiastic about the London outfit, with his main priority being a reunion with Ten Hag.

Mazraoui snubbing the Irons led to the side switching all their attention to Wan-Bissaka and all signs point to that deal getting over the line very soon.

Earlier today, the reliable Fabrizio Romano wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Understand the agreement reached between Man United and Noussair Mazraoui is on five year deal valid until June 2029.”

“It also includes an option for further year, 2030. Same as Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.”

“Mazraoui, waiting for United… as they’ve to sell Wan-Bissaka.”

Journalist Ben Jacobs has given a slight update on the situation and indicated that Mazraoui has told Bayern that he wants an exit from the Allianz Arena.

“Noussair Mazraoui has now told Bayern he wants to leave having agreed a five-year contract with Manchester United.”

“Manchester United prepared to pay a package of over £15m, but deal depends on an Aaron Wan-Bissaka exit first.”

In the 2023/24 season, Mazraoui made 19 Bundesliga appearances. In that time, he helped Bayern keep seven clean sheets.
