Orel Mangala (26) hopes that his move from Nottingham Forest to Olympique Lyonnais will continue beyond his current loan deal.

Mangala joined Lyon as part of the club’s winter recruitment drive that saw the team become the biggest spenders in Europe. The deal for Mangala in particular could end up being the biggest in Lyon’s history if they were to trigger his purchase option.

However, his minutes have been limited since making the swap to France, and the midfielder has only made ten appearances across all competitions, although he has managed to score twice during his narrow opportunities.

Still, Mangala appears to have enjoyed his time in Lyon and speaking to the press he expressed the desire for the club to make his swap from the Premier League a permanent deal.

Orel Mangala wants to remain at Lyon

The midfielder stated, “I feel good here, even if a few physical problems have prevented me from continuing. I am happy with my season and the confidence that was placed in me. The purchase option? I hope it will be triggered, yes.” However, whether Lyon have seen enough from the midfielder to break their transfer record will have to be seen.
