According to La Voix du Nord Nottingam Forest’s number one Brice Samba (28) is edging closer to signing for RC Lens. Samba, who is under contract until June 2023, is waiting to be allowed to leave the club after speculation that the player refused to extend his contract with Forest earlier this month. The deal depends on Forest finding a replacement for the Congolese goalkeeper.

Samba made 45 appearances and kept 14 clean sheets last season, helping Forest win the EFL Championship play-off final in May and gaining promotion to the Premier League – where they will play next season for the first time since 1999.

From a Forest perspective, the club do not want to part company with their number one from last season until they are assured of a replacement. It is reported that an agreed loan deal for Dean Henderson from Manchester United could start to move a Samba deal for RC Lens.
