Nottingham Forest are pursuing Italian-Brazilian central defender Luiz Felipe to bolster their backline.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the English club have submitted a €15 million offer to Real Betis which was swiftly rejected.
However, there is a silver lining for Forest, as Betis are inching closer to a deal for another centre-back.
Manuel Pellegrini’s plans at Betis could be dealt a blow as the club grapples with the potential departure of the 26-year-old.
Felipe, who made his mark during a six-year stint at Lazio before joining Betis last summer, is known for his robust style of play and front-foot defending.
He played an instrumental role for Betis last season, making 31 appearances in all competitions.
However, his playing style occasionally led to fiery clashes, as he received three red cards during his maiden campaign with Betis.
French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco and a Saudi Pro League club have also expressed interest in securing Felipe’s signature.
Neither club have submitted offers to Betis, leaving the door open for a potential bidding war.
With the ball firmly in their court, Forest must convince Betis to part ways with their prized defender.
Forest have also submitted a proposal to Arsenal for Portuguese full-back Nuno Tavares, and talks are underway over a move to the City Ground.
They have only two wing-backs on their books – Omar Richards and Harry Toffolo.
However, Richards has not featured for the club due to injury, while Toffolo faces a lengthy ban after breaking betting regulations.
