According to Fabrizio Romano, Premier League club Nottingham Forest are close to agreeing on a deal for Brazilian defensive midfielder Danilo. The 21-year-old has also garnered interest from Ligue 1’s AS Monaco, who offered the Brazilian club Jean Lucas plus €13m in a player-plus-cash offer earlier in the week.
Danilo played 58 games for Palmeiras in the 2022 season, helping them to the league title in November. His performances included seven goals and four assists. If he opts for the Premier League rather than Ligue 1, he will join compatriot and former Palmeiras clubmate Gustavo Scarpa, who joined the Reds on New Year’s Day.
Romano suggested that the move to Nottingham was all but complete. He also noted that Danilo’s medical could take place this weekend, pending final negotiations. Forest had initially offered Palmeiras a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option, but Romano reported yesterday that the two-time European Cup / Champions League winners were now offering a permanent transfer. Forest’s initial offer of €20m earlier in the week was rejected. The finer details of the current proposed deal have not yet been announced.
