Nottingham Forest have sacked manager Steve Cooper after over two years in charge of the club.

The 44-year-old leaves with Forest sat 17th in the table, just five points above the relegation zone after a run of just one win in their last 13 games.

Fears of being dragged into the relegation dogfight have escalated at the City Ground with the team not winning in their last six matches, with their last victory coming against Aston Villa on November 5.

Cooper was appointed in September 2021 with Forest struggling near the bottom of the Championship before he oversaw a run which led them to earn promotion back to the Premier League for the first time since 1999 after winning the playoffs.

He led them to 16th last season, securing their top-flight status with a win over Arsenal in May.

The Athletic have reported that Forest are in advanced talks with Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo to replace Cooper.

The 49-year-old has been out of a job since being sacked by Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad in November.
