Bristol City and Stoke City are reportedly among the EFL clubs keen on 21-year-old Nottingham Forest attacking midfielder Ateef Konate, who will be allowed to leave on loan this month.

The pair are languishing in the lower half of the Championship table and will hope the January transfer window can help them turn their respective fortunes around.

It seems both the Robins and the Potters will look to the loan market to strengthen this month as The Athletic’s David Ornstein has reported that they’re in the race for Konate.

It is understood that Forest have decided that the Frenchman will be allowed to leave The City Ground on loan this month.

Multiple Championship and League One clubs are said to be interested but Bristol City and Stoke are the only two named at this point – though they do face competition from Danish outfit Odense.

Konate joined Forest from Le Havre in 2020 and has caught the eye with his performances in Premier League 2 this term.

The Verdict

Both Bristol City and Stoke need to add some additional quality to their squad this month and the loan market does appear the best way of doing that.

Konate has been in strong form in Premier League 2 and will be hungry to impress in what will be his first real chance in senior football.

The Championship pair and Odense are the only teams named so far but it appears there are multiple others keen.

His final destination is unclear but it does look as though Konate will be on the move this month.
