Anderlecht are set to make an approach to try and lure Nottingham Forest wing-back Harry Toffolo to Belgium, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The 27-year-old previously looked set to be heavily involved for the Reds this term, with fellow summer signing Omar Richards being ruled out of action for much of the campaign following his move from German giants Bayern Munich.

However, Renan Lodi came in later in the summer and the Brazilian has limited the ex-Huddersfield Town man’s game minutes, with the latter even failing to make the matchday squad for last weekend’s clash against AFC Bournemouth.

Making just 12 appearances in all competitions and failing to be the game-changer he was in the final third for the Terriers last season, Forest are reportedly willing to sanction an exit for the left-sided player before next week’s deadline.

According to reporter Taylor, Anderlecht are believed to be interested in luring him away from the City Ground along with Hull City, but Football Insider has now claimed that the player has turned down the latter in favour of a move to the former.

The Verdict:

With Nathan Baxter and Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand potentially on their way back to their respective parent clubs before the end of the window, there could potentially be room for another loan player to come through the door.

Harvey Vale has also returned to Chelsea and with the Tigers wanting to sign Xavier Simons on a permanent basis, they could have had just four loanees in their squad including Toffolo by the time the transfer window ended.

One of these players, Dimitrios Pelkas, is currently out of action for the foreseeable future anyway so a loan deal for Toffolo may not have meant that other loanees would have needed to be left out of the matchday squad.

With Brandon Fleming out on loan, the Forest man would have been an excellent addition with the 27-year-old proving to be an asset at both ends of the pitch under Carlos Corberan last season.

Recording six goals and eight assists in all competitions during the 2021/22 campaign, it’s a shame for Liam Rosenior’s men that he won’t be making the move to the MKM Stadium because he could have had a good impact there.
