Wigan Athletic boss Shaun Maloney has hailed Nottingham Forest loan star Dale Taylor for his performance against Leyton Orient on Saturday.
The Northern Irish international came through the Tricky Trees youth system and currently, he is on this third loan spell away from the City Ground.
League One side Wigan signed him on a season-long in the summer and the 20-year-old has seen ample game time already.
Taylor has featured in 17 games for the Latics and he has contributed to six goals directly already in the campaign.
Maloney’s side lost 2-0 against Leyton Orient at the weekend, where the Latics boss felt his side were ineffective in the final third, but praised the Tricky Trees loan star for his performance.
He dubbed Taylor Wigan’s ‘best player’.
“We can get into the final third as many times as we want but we do look like we are struggling in that final third”, Maloney told his club’s in-house media.
“Saying that, I think Dale Taylor was by far our best player today.
“I think it is the first time in a while where those attacking substitutes we make, did not really lift the tempo or have a positive impact.”
Taylor will be looking to continue impressing for the rest of the season at Wigan to secure an even better move next summer.
