Eredivisie newcomers Almere City suffered a third successive defeat on Saturday, losing 4-1 to AZ Alkmaar. Nottingham Forest loanee Loïc Mbe Soh scored the only goal for Almere, firing in a header from a corner kick just before the hour mark.

The goal was Mbe Soh’s first of the campaign since joining Almere City in the summer. The 22-year-old French defender has featured eleven times for the newly promoted club, and despite their recent results, the club have impressed so far this season. Almere have claimed three wins and four draws in their opening 15 matches. For a side that are experiencing their debut season in the Dutch top flight, that’s certainly not a bad record. They’re currently 16th in the table and just one point would move them out of the relegation zone.

Almere City have kept four clean sheets this season in matches that Loïc Mbe Soh has featured in. The Paris Saint-Germain academy product has been a huge help for Alex Pastoor’s side. Next up, Almere City face Vitesse in a crucial clash down at the bottom of the table.
