That is according to The Telegraph, which claims that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side is keeping an eye on the midfielder.

The Blues suffered heartbreak at the end of last season, as they were relegated to League One after enduring a terrible campaign in the Championship.

But that now provides Birmingham City with a chance to start again, and they have done that with the arrival of Chris Davies as manager.

The former Tottenham Hotspur coach has got a big task on his hands in terms of rebuilding this Birmingham squad, and it now appears as though he could face a challenge in keeping hold of James beyond this transfer window.

Jordan James is arguably Birmingham City’s biggest asset at the club right now, and it was always going to be hard for the Blues to keep hold of the player, but even more so now that they are in League One.

Serie A side and Europa League winners Atalanta have been heavily linked with the midfielder for some time now, with reports even suggesting that they have had bids rejected for James.

It has also been reported that West Ham United and Leicester City are monitoring the player’s situation at Birmingham City.

But these sides now face fresh competition, as it’s been reported by The Telegraph that Nottingham Forest are also interested in James.

Forest were able to retain their place in the Premier League at the end of last season, and it will likely be the case that Nuno Espirito Santo will want to add to his team over the coming months.

James’ reputation in the game has grown and grown in the last 12 months, and it now appears as though Forest are the latest club to take interest.

Jordan James is a player who has come through the club’s academy, into their under-18s, and is now playing for their first team.

The midfielder first broke into the first team during the 2021/22 season, as he played 21 times in all competitions.

He has since gone on to play for Birmingham City another 84 times, meaning he has played 105 games for the club so far in his career.

Birmingham would love James to add to that number, but with him entering the final 12 months of his contract and interest growing, it could be hard for Birmingham City to ignore the interest.

The Blues do have an option to extend his contract by another 12 months, but with them now in League One, James’ departure may be expected.

It is very clear that Jordan James is a talented player and one that is destined for great things, but unfortunately for Birmingham City, he is unlikely going to do that with them.

James has really shined since playing for the first team, and even if the Blues had remained in the Championship, it was always going to be hard for them to keep the player, but it now seems impossible given they are in League One.
