Nottingham Forest join Newcastle United and West Ham in Ipswich Town star race

Nottingham Forest are another Premier League side believed to be keen on Ipswich Town full-back Leif Davis, according to a report from TWTD.

The Tractor Boys have done exceptionally well this term, spending much of the campaign in the top two before recently dropping into third position.

Despite their wobble in recent times, Kieran McKenna's side can be very pleased with their efforts, with some of their players being real game-changers in the final third.

One of those game-changers is Davis, who has registered 14 goals in 31 league appearances this season.

He was also brilliant last term during his team's promotion-winning campaign, registering the same number of assists during 2022/23 and also scoring three times in 43 league games.

Davis has certainly been a very shrewd signing from Leeds United, but it's unclear how much longer he will remain at Portman Road, with plenty of interest in his signature.

However, his contract doesn't expire until the summer of 2025 and the Tractor Boys have the opportunity to extend his deal by a further 12 months after that, placing the promotion hopefuls in a very strong negotiating position heading into the summer.

Davis has done an excellent job for much of this term, adapting to the Championship very well and becoming a major asset in Suffolk.

His previous loan spell at AFC Bournemouth would have helped him get used to the second tier, but he has been much more of a key player for the Tractor Boys than he was for the Cherries.

His development in League One has paid dividends - and he could be set for a move to the top flight sooner rather than later.

Forest are thought to have taken an interest, but they aren't the only team keen on the left-back.

Newcastle United and West Ham have also recently been linked with a switch, with the latter's interest coming as no surprise considering they have been linked with several EFL players in recent years.

TWTD believe Ipswich will value Davis in excess of £20m.

Ipswich Town need to take a clever negotiating stance on Leif Davis

There's no doubt that the Tractor Boys must be firm at the negotiating table.

Davis is such a key player for them to have and without him, they wouldn't be as successful as they are.

This is why Ipswich must demand a sizeable fee for his signature, especially with his contract situation in mind.

But McKenna's side also need to be realistic and agree a sensible deal if the left-back won't put pen to paper on a new contract.

Losing him for a reduced fee or nothing would be a disaster, but with the player effectively having two years left on his contract, the summer may be the right time to sell him.
