Nottingham Forest are looking into a deal for free-agent left-back Loris Benito, a report from Nottinghamshire Live has revealed.

Benito has been without a club since leaving Bordeaux this summer, after a two-year spell with the French club.

Now it seems as though the 29-year-old could soon be back in the game, with a move to The City Ground.

Has Lewis Grabban ever scored a goal for Nottingham Forest at these 26 stadiums?

According to this latest update, Benito has been training with Forest this week, as the club mull over whether or not to offer him a contract in their search for more cover at left-back.

After coming through the youth ranks at Aarau, Benito has also had spells with Young Boys and FC Zurich in his native Switzerland, and Portuguese giants Benfica.

The full-back has also been capped five times by Switzerland at international level, and will be looking to catch the eye ahead of next year’s World Cup.

Forest currently sit 16th in the Championship table, although they are just eight points adrift of the play-offs with more than half of the campaign remaining.

The Verdict

This could be a goodsigning for Forest to make, if they are impressed with what they see from Benito in training.

With Sheffield United loanee Max Lowe currently out injured, left-back is a position where Forest could potentially benefit from adding some more reinforcements.

Benito could well be a decent option to fill that role, given the significant experience he has at a high level of the game, meaning he could make a useful impact at The City Ground.

The fact he would be available on a free could also help Forest from a financial perspective when it comes to other deals they may need to get done, so this does seem well worth considering for Cooper and co.
