The 24-year-old, who has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, is now the subject of a bid from big spending Forest who are still looking to add a number of players to their squad before the window closes - despite already landing 15 new faces.

Aouar has also been the subject of interest from Spanish side Real Betis but is now talking to Forest about a £15m move and he could be joined on the banks of the River Trent by compatriot Maupay of Brighton.

Maupay has sunk down the pecking order at the AMEX this summer and has been told he can leave the club.

Italian side Salernitana made a move for Maupay earlier in the summer, but they failed to finalise a deal with the player and now he seems set to stay in England.

Forest boss Steve Cooper wants additional attacking options and feels that Maupay, who has struck at least eight goals in each of his three Premier League seasons is a good fit. The 26-year-old has been with Brighton since 2019 when he joined from Brentford.
