Nottingham Forest have been given fresh hope in their pursuit of West Bromwich Albion midfielder Filip Krovinovic as the player’s agent has denied recent claims he is moving to Hajduk Split.

The Telegraph’s John Percy reported earlier today that Krovinovic was set to have his loan to Albion cut short and join Hajduk until the end of the season.

However, speaking to Index HR, the 25-year-old’s agent has suggested he will not be moving to the club this month.

He said: “None of that. We have several offers from abroad that we are considering in agreement with Benfica and West Brom.

“The situation is quite complicated due to the loan agreement between these two clubs, but we will know more in a few days. Filip is not going to Hajduk ”

That will likely be a boost for the Reds as The Athletic reported earlier this month that Krovinovic was among the midfield targets that they’re are considering.

Ben Whiteman was also thought to be in consideration but he completed his move to Preston North End earlier this week.

The first signing made by ex-Albion boss Slaven Bilic, Krovinovic was a regular fixture in the Baggies side as they were promoted to the Premier League last season but despite joining on loan again from Benfica, has struggled for opportunities this term.

The midfielder has featured 11 times in the league in the 2020/21 campaign, with his chances limited since the arrival of new manager Sam Allardyce.

Are these 15 Nottingham Forest facts genuine or not?

The Verdict

This is a positive update for Forest, particularly after Whiteman was snapped up earlier this week by Preston.

Krovinovic has the technical ability to add that bit of quality in possession to Chris Hughton’s midfield and he’s a proven player at Championship level.

He may feel a move back to the second tier doesn’t suit him but if they can convince him this could well be an excellent addition.
