Nottingham Forest have asked about the availability of Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri, according to the Evening Standard.

Forest are in the market for another left-back after their move for Real Betis defender Alex Moreno collapsed.

The Reds already had a deal in place to sign Moreno for £9 million, but the Spaniard rejected the move to the City Ground, insisting he wanted to stay at Betis.

Steve Cooper’s side have already spent a massive £85m on twelve new players since their promotion and are showing no signs of slowing down.

They want cover at left-back after losing Omar Richards to injury and saw an approach for RB Leipzig’s Angelino flounder as he opted to join Hoffenheim.

Forest have now turned their attention to Emerson as their search for a full-back continues.

Chelsea are set for a summer clear-out, and the departure of Timo Werner has opened the floodgates for more to follow.

Emerson is one of those touted for a move away from Stamford Bridge as the defender has found regular playing time hard to come by since Tuchel took over.

The arrival of Marc Cucurella means the Italian would be the third choice wing-back in Tuchel’s side, provided Marcos Alonso completes his move to Barcelona.

The 28-year-old spent the last campaign away from the club on loan at Olympique Lyonnais but could now leave on a permanent deal with Forest keen.

Forest would face competition from Serie A giants Juventus who have a long-standing interest in the Italy international.

Emerson joined Chelsea in a £17m move from AS Roma in January 2018 and has featured 71 times for the Blues, contributing two goals and five assists.

He was part of the Italy squad that won the 2020 European Championships and would add pedigree to Steve Cooper’s side if they can pull off a deal.
