Nottingham Forest have officially announced the signing of Ibrahim Sangaré. The 25-year-old midfielder has finally completed his move to the City Ground from PSV Eindhoven, who will receive €35m.
With Brennan Johnson completing a £45m move from Forest to Tottenham Hotspur, the Reds have been able to splash out on Sangaré. The defensive midfielder has put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
Forest have been interested in Ibrahim Sangaré all summer and after multiple bids were rejected, they’ve finally landed their top target. Sangaré has been a crucial player for PSV ever since he signed from Toulouse in 2020. The player had four years remaining on his contract and was a fan favourite at the Philips Stadion. Leaving PSV was clearly a tough decision to make for the Sangaré, but now he’s a Premier League player.
Last season he featured 45 times in all competitions as PSV finished second in the Eredivisie and lifted the KNVB Cup. The 31-time Ivory Coast international scored eight goals and provided three assists. He could be exactly what Nottingham Forest needs to push on in the Premier League this season, as they aim to improve on last season’s 16th-place finish.
