Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Italian right-back Nicolo Savona from Serie A outfit Juventus in a deal worth around €15 million (£12m).
Savona has signed a five-year deal with the Tricky Trees, ending his 14-year association with Juventus, which began when he was just eight years old.
The Italian broke into Juventus’ first team last season, making 28 Serie A appearances. He primarily operates as a right-back but also offers versatility to fill in as a centre-back when needed.
“I am very excited to be here,” Savona said on the completion of his move to Forest.
“It is a new experience for me as a person and a player. It is such a historic club, and the move is a dream come true.
“I can’t wait to play in front of the fans at the City Ground, and I will give my all for the shirt.”
As he continues his recovery from an ankle problem sustained at the FIFA Club World Cup back in June, Savona is not expected to make his debut soon, although a comeback is not far off.
After being courted by Manchester City earlier in the transfer window, Savona is Forest’s ninth arrival and could be their final acquisition.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have picked up four points from their two league outings and will be keen to return to winning ways when they face West Ham on Sunday afternoon.
