With the Jadon Sancho saga seemingly nearing an end, United fans could be embarking on a completely new one. Raphael Varane reportedly one of the club’s top targets this summer and some reports even claim that an offer has been made already.

The Real Madrid defender has just one year remaining on his current deal at the Santiago Bernabeu and the Madrid club is reportedly ready to sell their star asset if the right offer is made.

But reports of an official bid may have been premature, with journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano now offering an update on the situation.

“At the moment, there is nothing official going on between Manchester United and Raphael Varane,” Romano told Stretford Paddock, as seen above. “There are talks with his agents, who also represent Trippier. United have a good relationship and are talking directly about opportunities”

Varane is said to be one of several defenders on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s shortlist but whether the club is prepared to break the bank for a player with just one year left on his contract remains to be seen.

In a blow to United’s chances, some reports have claimed that Real Madrid are now making an attempt to renew Varane’s contract after it was revealed that Sergio Ramos was leaving the club.
