With contract news the main centrepiece in recent weeks, James Pearce of the Athletic has made a worrying claim surrounding the Liverpool front three. As cited by LFC Transfer Room, Pearce said that it is unlikely that all three of the Reds’ front three renew their contracts.
As things stand, all of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah will all be free agents come the summer of 2023. Of course, a lot can change in the space of two years, and we may yet see all three sign on the dotted line.
Pearce has stated that it is unrealistic that all three renew, however. And this should come as little surprise when considering their ages. Come 2023, all three will be 31 and will likely need replacing.

The Reds must avoid a situation similar to Gini Wijnaldum’s last season; they must learn from their mistakes. The current front three all deserve new deals and they will be more than capable of performing at the age of 31, especially Mohamed Salah.
The main aim should be to renew their contracts and, as they hit ages such as 33 and beyond, begin replacing them. Whilst the Liverpool front three deserve the chance to finish their careers at Anfield, the Reds will have no choice but to eventually replace them. That day should be a long way off, however.
