Barcelona are not interested in procuring a transfer for Manchester United star Paul Pogba

According to The Metro, Barcelona have turned down the chance to secure a transfer for Paul Pogba from Manchester United despite being offered the opportunity by the player’s agent Mino Raiola.

There is widespread uncertainty over the future of the 28-year-old superstar ever since he entered the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford. United are said to be willing to keep the midfielder at the club beyond this season and his performances so far have certainly justified the Manchester-based outfit’s intentions of doing so.

He has also apparently been offered a contract with an improved wage bill. The former Juventus man currently earns £280,000-per-week but could earn nearly £400,000-per-week, should he choose to sign a new deal with the 13-time Premier League champions.

However, failing to sign a new deal will open him up to being prised away by other clubs. Last week, it was said that the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, contacted Barcelona over a potential move for his client, according to Sport (h/t The Metro).

That avenue has since closed as the Blaugrana are apparently not interested in doing as they certainly cannot afford such high expenses.

Although Pogba will be available on a free transfer, his wages will not be small by any stretch of the word. The La Liga club recently posted a £470million annual revenue loss, indicating their dire financial situation.

Moreover, they have already let go of their legend in Lionel Messi to ‘trim’ their wage bill while Antoine Griezmann also departed the club. Thus, the French international is unlikely to move to the Catalan club at the end of the season.

It is thought that the midfielder is open to staying at United, but with Real Madrid, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain keen on a deal for the 28-year-old, only time will tell where he ends up next summer.
