La Liga giants Barcelona are giving serious consideration to returning to the table for a leading member of the club’s summer transfer wishlist, with a view to next season.
That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Nico Williams as the player in question.
The name of wide-man Nico of course took its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital throughout the recently-closed summer transfer window.
This came amid a drawn-out effort on the part of the Camp Nou brass to add the 22-year-old to new boss Hansi Flick’s squad.
When all was said and done, such endeavours came up short, after Nico came to the decision to stay put in Bilbao for another year.
With Barcelona having since gotten their campaign up and running in scintillating fashion, and Raphinha looking a player reborn, many, in turn, have been quick to suggest that Barca utilising their scarce funds on Dani Olmo instead of Nico may in fact have been a blessing in disguise.
Such developments, however, have not yet proven enough to convince the Blaugrana board.
That’s according to the aforementioned Matteo Moretto, who, speaking during an appearance on Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing, confirmed that Nico Williams’ signing remains on the agenda at the Camp Nou.
The Catalans are expected to reignite their pursuit of the Athletic Club standout in the summer of 2025.
The case is considered as ‘not closed’, with Deco and co. continuing to keep a close eye on Williams’ situation ahead of next season.
