Denmark and Leicester City star Victor Kristiansen has on Sunday all but admitted that he and his teammates targeted Spanish starlet Lamine Yamal last night.
Spain of course put Denmark to the sword on Saturday, by a solitary goal.
Wide-man Lamine, meanwhile, featured from the off, seeing out all but injury-time in Murcia.
Since, however, the 17-year-old has been forced to depart the Spanish camp, to return to base in Catalunya’s capital with Barcelona.
This comes after Lamine was subjected to a series of heavy challenges over the course of the 90 minutes at the Estadio Nueva Condomina, leaving the attacker hobbled and in evident discomfort.
Speaking to Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet (as cited by Mundo Deportivo) in the aftermath of Saturday’s clash, the subject of the harsh treatment afforded to Lamine by he and his teammates was in turn put to the aforementioned Victor Kristiansen.
And, in something of a surprise, the defender went on to openly admit that Spain’s prodigious young winger was essentially targeted, in an effort to limit his influence on proceedings:
“If there is an opportunity to have a good match, which can ‘hurt a little’, you have to take advantage of it…
“It’s simply saying ‘hey, I’m also in the fight’, I’m not afraid of you’.”
