Not a transfer candidate: Bayern wants to keep Stanisic

Although Bayern still have important games in the current season with the upcoming semi-final in the Champions League, the rumour mill is already churning in Munich about the upcoming squad shake-up in the summer. One thing seems to be clear: Josip Stanisic is returning to Munich.

Despite the temptations of a possible spectacular swap deal with Leverkusen for Jonathan Tah, FC Bayern want to bring their home-grown talent Josip Stanisic back to the Isar, according to Sport BILD. The young Croatian, who is on loan to the new German champions Bayer Leverkusen this season, is set to return to the Munich squad. The management team of the record champions see him as a long-term enrichment for the team.

While the interest in Jonathan Tah cannot be overlooked and talks have already taken place, FC Bayern’s stance on Stanisic remains firm. A settlement or even a sale of the talented defender is not up for discussion. Stanisic has played 31 games for Leverkusen this season, scoring two goals. The goal in the top match against FC Bayern is likely to be particularly memorable for Munich fans. The Croatian was one of the Werkself’s top performers, particularly in the second half of the season.

Stanisic as a defensive all-rounder

It is a clear sign of confidence in the 24-year-old’s abilities. This should be an additional motivational boost for the defender. While the negotiations surrounding Tah are still characterised by differing views on the transfer fee – according to insiders, Bayern’s asking price is around €20 million – keeping Stanisic could be the internal solution to the defensive issues of the summer. In addition to the right-back position, the flexible defender can also play in central defence.

Even if the transfer speculation will continue, the matter with Stanisic seems to be clear. He is not a transfer candidate for those responsible in Munich, but a player with future potential in red and white.
