Real Madrid’s Thursday training session had a notable visitor — Andriy Shevchenko, one of football’s iconic figures and the winner of the 2004 Ballon d’Or during his time at AC Milan.
Shevchenko’s presence brought a sense of nostalgia and excitement as he reconnected with old acquaintances, particularly Carlo Ancelotti.
Shevchenko and Ancelotti share a rich footballing history, having achieved remarkable success together at AC Milan, including a Champions League triumph.
It was evident that their bond remains strong, as Shevchenko expressed admiration for Ancelotti’s enduring success as one of the sport’s finest managers.
“Carlo is a special friend of mine. One of the best coaches of all time, we had a fantastic time at Milan, where I won the Champions League with him as my coach,” he said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“The atmosphere and chemistry within the dressing room is something that all the players always remember.”

During his visit, Shevchenko had the chance to observe Real Madrid’s training session and engage with several players. He made a point of connecting with Andriy Lunin, the Ukrainian goalkeeper.
Their conversation likely carried a personal significance, given their shared national ties. Shevchenko was clearly impressed by the positive atmosphere within the squad, highlighting the strong camaraderie among the players.
“I was also able to have a little chat with the players, especially Lunin, who is the goalkeeper for the Ukraine national team. They have been very good to me. I think the chemistry around the team is very good,” he added.
Reflecting on his past encounters with Real Madrid as a player, Shevchenko recalled the intensity and importance of those matches.
“It was a fantastic day, it’s always a pleasure to come and remember my time playing against Real Madrid, they were great games. It’s a special moment and a special club.”
