Christos Tzolis has a bright future ahead of him despite feeling the wrath of Norwich City boss Daniel Farke last night, according to journalist Stuart Hodge.

How did Tzolis anger Farke?

Having sold Emiliano Buendia to Premier League rivals Aston Villa for a club record fee during the early stages of the summer transfer window, Farke used a large chunk of that money to sign Tzolis from Greek side PAOK for a fee of close to £10million.

Following the 19-year-old's arrival at Carrow Road, his new head coach claimed Norwich saw off competition for Tzolis' signature and described the winger as "one of the most exciting offensive players across European football".

However, he infuriated Farke after taking and missing a first half spot-kick despite not being down as the designated penalty taker as the Canaries exited the League Cup last night.

Tzolis' effort was saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, while a Takumi Minamino brace and Divock Origi header resulted in Farke's charges being beaten 3-0 by Jurgen Klopp's Merseysiders.

The defeat came as a blow to Farke, who admitted to targeting League Cup glory this season.

It also follows a wretched run of five consecutive Premier League defeats.

What has Stuart Hodge said about Tzolis?

Hodge believes Tzolis will go on to have an impressive career at Carrow Road.

But, having seen Norwich score just two Premier League goals this term and both come from Teemu Pukki, he has called for Tzolis and fellow summer signing Milot Rashica - who cost in the region of £9million - to start producing the goods.

Hodge told GMS: "My inclination would be to look at some of the new guys that have come in out wide to provide the goals.

"Rashica has got goals in him and Christos Tzolis has definitely got goals in him and masses of potential.

"There's a few other players in that wide area, like Todd Cantwell.

"Relying on Pukki as the main man will not work. It needs to be a spread the load job."

Why is Tzolis rated so highly?

Prior to last night's penalty miss, the Greece international had made a promising start to his Norwich career by recording two goals and as many assists in his opening three outings.
