Chris Sutton has urged Norwich City to resist any offers for star man Emi Buendia.
The winger has enjoyed a wonderful season for the Canaries in which he scored 15 times and created 17 goals for his teammates as Daniel Farke’s side secured automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
Reports from The Sun have suggested that Buendia’s performances have attracted the interest of Arsenal and West Ham, while Football League World exclusively revealed that Liverpool had emerged as a contender to sign him as well.
Such interest could prove difficult to ignore, but according to Sutton, it’s in Norwich’s best interest to hold firm if possible.
Speaking to the Eastern Daily Press, Sutton said: “Norwich have to try and pull out all the stops to keep him (Buendia).
“You need your creative players and the ones that are going to nick a goal and he is that player.
“Let’s not kid ourselves – there will be clubs out there who will have been watching him this season. He works hard out of possession as well – there’s not a lot wrong with him!
“There will be clubs in for him and maybe he will have his head turned again. Maybe Norwich will have an offer that they just cannot refuse.”
The verdict
What a summer it could be for Emi Buendia.
It’s always nice for a player to attract interest from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham and surely a move to one of those clubs will be hugely appealing.
But perhaps staying at Norwich will be the best thing for him – after all, Daniel Farke knows how to get the best from him.
If Buendia can offer Norwich one more season of his services it could be a huge boost for the club and then he would no doubt be allowed to leave with their blessing.
