That is according to Alan Nixon via Patreon, who reports that the Canaries are plotting talks with the 26-year-old over a potential summer switch.

This update emerges with Willock's current deal at Loftus Road set to expire in the summer, meaning that the London-born winger is currently set to be available on a free transfer.

This could certainly be a factor that has piqued Norwich's interest.

Interestingly, Nixon reveals that Norwich are keen on a deal for Willock regardless of whether they are in the Premier League or Championship last campaign.

The Canaries sealed sixth place in the Championship and a spot in the play-offs despite a 1-0 away defeat to Birmingham City on the final game of the season, so still have a shot at promotion.

Norwich will now face Leeds United in the semi-finals of the play-offs, with the first leg set to take place on Sunday May 12th at 12 noon.

Chris Willock's 2023/24 campaign

With Willock's contract coming to an end, it was an important season for the Englishman from the off, but with QPR struggling early on under Gareth Ainsworth, so too did the 26-year-old.

Fortunately, Marti Cifuentes' arrival at Loftus Road yielded more regular game time for Willock, with the R's ace showing what he was capable of scoring in three consecutive matches in late November and early December.

Unfortunately, Willock has only added one goal to his tally since then, leaving him on four goals and four assists for the season in 39 league outings.

Crucially, though, QPR did survive the drop, and rather comfortably in the end. Considering that the club looked doomed at one stage, to finish the season 18th is impressive.

Of course, Willock was a player that started regularly in the side that achieved this feat and thus contributed accordingly.

Norwich City continuing free agent trend

Were Norwich to pick up Willock on a free this summer, it would not be the first time that the club have utilised the free agent market to their advantage recently.

You only have to look to last summer to see it was a key part of their strategy to strengthen their squad for this season, bringing in several experienced heads to help them achieve their goals.

For example, according to Transfermarkt, the club signed seven players on free transfers last summer, with only one of these being under the age of 27 in Borja Sainz, who was 22 when they picked him up.

All of the other names, though, were wise heads, including Shane Duffy (31), Jack Stacey (27), Adam Forshaw (31), Ashley Barnes (33). Danny Batth (32) and George Long (29).

Of course, some of those names have played more than others this campaign, but bringing in such experienced names on a free has undoubtedly fostered a strong spirit among the Norwich squad that has helped them go from finishing 13th last season to sixth this.
