Norwich City linked with two managerial options, one ruled out of the race

The Canaries are on the prowl for a new manager following David Wagner's sacking yesterday.

Wagner's dismissal came after their heavy defeat against Leeds United - with that loss knocking them out of the play-offs.

Ben Knapper and the Norwich board have decided to act after that - and they now need to appoint a successor ahead of pre-season.

With Dean Smith failing to live up to expectations last season and Wagner failing to convince supporters that he was the man to take the Canaries forward, the next manager simply must be a better fit if the club are to give themselves any chance of securing promotion back to the Premier League in the next year or two.

Norwich City managerial update emerges

As mentioned above, Norwich have considered a move for Cooper.

However, the same report from The Telegraph has also stated that the Welshman is willing to bide his time before getting back in the game.

He was sacked by Nottingham Forest in December - and that could make him a fairly cheap option considering he's currently a free agent.

Liam Rosenior, who was sacked by Hull City earlier this month after failing to guide the Tigers into the play-offs, is another manager who could come under consideration.

Rosenior has already been linked with plenty of jobs in recent weeks - and reportedly turned down a switch to Plymouth Argyle.

However, it remains to be seen whether he would consider a move to Carrow Road.

One man who doesn't look set to take the top job is Carlos Cuesta, who currently works alongside Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

Cuesta was linked with a move to Norfolk earlier this year, but looks set to remain at the Emirates Stadium for now.

Norwich City should consider both Steve Cooper and Liam Rosenior as top candidates

Cooper would be a great addition at Carrow Road, as someone who has already won promotion from this division against the odds.

Forest were struggling massively when he came in, but he managed to change the feel of the club straight away and squeezed the best out of his team.

The chance to move to Carrow Road would be a great one for the Welshman, but whether he would be willing to move after some persuading remains to be seen.

Rosenior is another talented coach - and he would be an excellent appointment at Norwich.

He may not have got everything right during his time at the MKM Stadium, but he left the Tigers in a better position than he found them in.

His dismissal came as a surprise, but Hull's loss will be another team's gain and the Canaries should consider a swoop for the young manager.

However, he may want to take some time away from the game, so it will be interesting to see what happens if Norwich end up making an approach.
