Norwich City latest news: Fresh claim emerges on Daniel Farke's first-team squad

Journalist Stuart Hodge reckons that Norwich have put together a better squad than two years ago – but remains unconvinced they have enough to beat the drop.

How have they fared this season?

The fixture list was far from kind to Daniel Farke, but it's been nothing short of a disastrous start to the campaign.

Whilst the Canaries turned in their best performance of the season against Arsenal on Saturday, the 1-0 defeat at the Emirates leaves them rock-bottom of the Premier League and the only team on zero points.

Norwich have already played four of the top eight teams, including Manchester City and Liverpool, but Farke would have expected a better return than one goal and nothing in the points column.

Their fixtures improve in the coming weeks with games against Watford, Burnley and Brighton, and those type of matches will surely go some way to deciding their fate this term.

What has Hodge said about Norwich's survival chances?

Hodge has praised the squad that Farke has put together but reckons their chances of playing in the top-flight once again hinge on the performance of their signings.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I think with the group of talent that have been assembled, this is nowhere near the quality last time; this is one or two above that.

"That has to give you hope as a Norwich City fan, but I'm not convinced Norwich City will stay up, but I do think that if eight out of ten signings hit the mark, Norwich have a chance."

Can Norwich survive?

Norwich won just five times in their last Premier League season, conceding 75 times, whilst scoring just 26 up the other end.

Their opening four games this time around have seen a similar pattern – with the side not yet good enough defensively, and little quality in attack.
