Leeds United thumped Norwich in the second-leg of the EFL Championship Promotion Playoff semi-final to book their ticket to Wembley and a chance at Premier League football next season.
Scorers: Gruev 7′, Piroe 20′, Rutter 40′, Summerville 68′
It was almost over before it started as the occasion was on top of Norwich from the jump.
The capitulation was kicked off inside 10 minutes when Ilia Gruev caught Canaries keeper Angus Gunn napping on a free-kick, stabbing home from distance as he set up his wall.
Just over 10 minutes later Gunn’s hesitation, once again, saw Leeds snatch a goal through Joël Piroe, who headed home from point-blank range.
It was an onslaught from there as Leeds poured on the pressure, eventually finally their third through Georginio Rutter before the break.
The dominant performance was capped off by Crysencio Summerville after a superb team move, driving the final nail into the Norwich coffin.
Leeds will await the winner of Friday’s showdown between Southampton and West Brom.
