They were supposed to face Romania in the Uefa Nations League in Bucharest on Sunday, but that game will not go ahead after Norway defender Omar Elabdellaoui tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.

As a result of that result, the Norwegian government banned their national side from travelling.

If it is decided that the entire squad must self-isolate isolate for 10 days, that would mean Haaland will miss the resumption of Bundesliga action next weekend.

As regards the game itself, Uefa have released a statement on the situation.

“The matter will now be submitted to the Uefa Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body, for a decision to be taken in accordance with the special rules applicable to Uefa National Team competition matches, as approved by the Uefa Executive Committee on 29 August 2020,” the statement read.

Norway could be punished with a possible 3-0 walkover defeat, which would have a serious impact on their hopes of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.
