We’ve seen players being booked for time wasting before, but we’re struggling to recall someone getting sent off for it.
But that’s exactly what happened to Northern Ireland’s Jamal Lewis when they took on Switzerland in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

Lewis had already received a booking earlier in the game for a tug on Breel Embolo.
And when the Newcastle United full-back took too long to take a throw-in in the referee’s opinion, he was bizarrely shown a second yellow card.
And the strangest thing about the sending off is that both bookings were dished out inside the first half.
You don’t see that very often.
