Liverpool have been handed renewed encouragement in their pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, with developments on Tyneside suggesting a second bid could soon be lodged.
The Reds saw an opening £110m offer rejected by Newcastle last week, with early suggestions that no further approach was planned. However, sources close to the situation indicate that the club’s recruitment team, led by sporting director Richard Hughes, may be prepared to test the Magpies’ resolve once more.
Reports from the North East claim Isak has been told to train alone, a disciplinary measure believed to have been issued by manager Eddie Howe. This decision, coupled with ongoing transfer frustrations at St James’ Park, appears to have opened a potential window for Liverpool.

Newcastle have endured a challenging summer in the market, with their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko set to end in disappointment as the RB Leipzig forward edges closer to joining Manchester United. Chronicle Live reporter Lee Ryder posted on X that Liverpool “have had every encouragement to put in another bid” for Isak, prompting one Reds supporter to predict that a second offer is imminent. Ryder responded directly, stating: “Feels that way right now.”
Such public remarks have added fuel to the belief that Liverpool could soon be back at the negotiating table. The forward’s absence from Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia, instead undertaking a personal training schedule in Spain, has already caused tension behind the scenes. His exclusion from group sessions at Darsley Park is the latest indication that relations between player and club may be deteriorating.
Sky Sports’ Keith Downie has reported that Newcastle value Isak at £150m, significantly higher than Liverpool’s initial proposal. While the Tynesiders remain determined to keep their number 14, the prospect of a sale cannot be dismissed if the impasse continues.
Liverpool’s financial capacity to make an improved offer could be enhanced by the impending departure of Darwin Nunez. The Athletic has reported a verbal agreement with Al-Hilal for a deal worth £46m plus add-ons, funds that could be redirected into a follow-up bid for Isak.
For now, Newcastle will hope to mend relations with their star striker, particularly in light of missing out on alternative targets. Howe’s side are under no obligation to sell and will want to avoid being left short in attack. Yet, the combination of dressing room unrest, stalled incoming business, and Liverpool’s potential willingness to raise their offer means the situation remains fluid.
As Lee Ryder’s comments suggest, a fresh proposal from Liverpool may not be far away. Whether it proves sufficient to sway Newcastle United remains to be seen, but the coming days could be decisive in determining Alexander Isak’s future.
