The DFL published the full fixture list for the 2025/26 season on Friday afternoon. SV Werder Bremen already knew they would start the season away against Eintracht Frankfurt (23rd-24th August 2025), with that fixture followed by a home game against Bayer 04 Leverkusen (29th-31st August 2025).
The first Bundesliga Nordderby in seven years will be played at the Volksparkstadion in December (5th-7th December 2025). Hamburger SV then visit the Weserstadion in April (17th-19th April 2026). SVW end 2025 away against FC Augsburg (19th-21st December 2025), returning from the winter break with a home fixture against TSG Hoffenheim (9th-11th January 2026). The league season ends with Borussia Dortmund in town on 16th May 2026 (15:30 CEST).
Head coach Horst Steffen: “We’ll take the games as they come. I’m looking forward to playing all these teams and to these exciting games. The start we’ve been given can definitely provide us with more motivation for pre-season.”
Managing director for sport Clemens Fritz: “We’re looking forward to the new league season and we'll take these games as they come, even if it’s a tricky start for us. Our fans are definitely already excited about the derby against HSV. It’s nice that we get to end the season at home.”
Head of professional football Peter Niemeyer: “Everyone is always excited about the fixtures being released. You get to find out how your season will start. We’ve got exciting games right from the first matchday. We will have to be at our best right away and know we will be tested immediately after the Pokal game. Our first five games see us play the league’s top three sides from last season – that is going to be challenging.”
Captain Marco Friedl: “Our first five games are all exciting and tough in their own way, but we will do all we can to be successful in every match. We’re excited for the start of the season and are looking forward to every fixture.”
Goalkeeper Michael Zetterer: "I’m looking forward to our opening games. Our first match in Frankfurt will be great, the atmosphere there is always incredible. Our home game against Leverkusen will also be a great match. I like to test myself against these kinds of teams. We definitely haven’t been given an easy start but we have to play everyone at some point anyway. We have lots to look forward to.”
