UEFA have announced the nominees for both their Women’s player and coach of the 2022/23 season awards.
Unsurprisingly it is dominated by Spain and Barcelona, the winners of the World Cup and Champions League respectively.
Two of Spain’s victorious side are up for the player’s honour, Aitana Bonmatí of Barcelona and Olga Carmona of Real Madrid. Bonmatí was also the winner of the World Cup Golden Ball.
Rounding out the trio is Sam Kerr of Australia and Chelsea, who led her country to the World Cup semi-final and helped her club to another WSL title.
In regards to the coach award, Spain’s Jorge Vilda and Barcelona’s Jonatan Giráldez are in the running alongside England’s Sarina Wiegman.
