The former Oasis songsmith is famously a big Manchester City fan and when he was asked to present the Puskás Award alongside Didier Drogba at Fifa’s The Best ceremony, he couldn’t resist having a little dig at rivals United.
“It’s great to be in a room with some of the greatest footballers known to man,” said Gallagher.
“And of course a few Man United players too,” he cheekily added.
Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah seemed to be particularly amused by Gallagher’s gag, whereas United goalkeeper David de Gea most certainly did not.
But the Spanish stopper probably won’t look back in anger after he was named in the 2018 FIFPro World XI.
Incidentally, not a single City player made it into that team …
