No Drama – Positive Reception For Hakan Calhanoglu Back At Inter Milan Training After Transfer Soap Opera | OneFootball

Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has gotten a positive reception on his return to Inter Milan training despite a controversial summer transfer saga.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Turkish international had lunch with Sporting Director Piero Ausilio yesterday.

Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is back at Inter Milan. The Turkish international returned to training this week, following what’s been a long, heated summer.

Transfer rumours linking Calhanoglu and Galatasaray have floated around for many weeks. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce also tried to bring the 31-year-old to Istanbul, according to some reports.

But Calhanoglu will in fact be staying at Inter this summer. The player himself confirmed as much.

There are still some things to smooth over between Inter and Calhanoglu after how the summer has gone, however.

Inter captain Lautaro Martinez had all but called out the Turkish international a few weeks ago.

Speaking frankly after Inter’s Club World Cup exit against Fluminense, the Argentine implored “whoever wants to leave, leave.”

Therefore, there has been some doubt as to whether or not Calhanoglu could simply reintegrate into the squad after what had happened.

According to the Gazzetta, though, the mood upon the 31-year-old’s return to training was positive.

The midfielder encountered Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio at the training ground. The pair immediately burst out into smiles and laughter, then went to lunch.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta report, Calhanoglu has contacted Inter President Beppe Marotta.

And it is not anticipated that there will be any lingering bad blood between Calhanoglu and Martinez.
