Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has given his thoughts on Leif Davis amid Premier League interest in the left-back.
After three sensational years at Ipswich Town, Leif Davis is subject to interest from the Premier League.
The left-back stood out massively for the Tractor Boys in their promotion-winning 2023/24 campaign, finishing the campaign with 18 assists, the most in the Championship.
Despite creating just two goals as Ipswich were relegated back to the second tier after a year in the Premier League, Premier League clubs are interested in the 25-year-old, as per reports from The Telegraph's Mike McGrath.
Speaking exclusively to Football League World, Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman believes that the Tractor Boys should be doing all they can to keep hold of the left-back.
"Leif Davis has been brilliant for Ipswich during their rise," said Goodman when asked whether the club should keep Davis or sell him for the right price.
"14 assists in League One, and a massive 18 in the Championship. He only got two in the Premier League, like most of his teammates; he found it tough."
Goodman, though, was keen to outline that his year in the top-flight with Ipswich is not necessarily indicative of Davis' brilliance: "But, I think that if you put him in a better Premier League team, no disrespect to Ipswich Town, he will do better."
"If you are Ipswich, and you look at those numbers, you won't want to lose that creativity from left-back."
With Ipswich preparing for life back in the Championship, Davis is set to be a key player as Kieran McKenna's side look to bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
"He has been a brilliant player for Ipswich, and I would be hanging on to him if I were them," concluded Goodman.
Despite their relegation back to the Championship, Ipswich have been able to keep the core of their squad, with key players remaining.
After ripping the Championship apart two seasons ago, the Tractor Boys have since added players who have done exactly that for different clubs.
The signings of Jack Clarke and Jaden Philogene may not have necessarily worked out as hoped in the Premier League; however, both are more than proven in the second tier with both Sunderland and Hull, respectively.
While, as of now, Omari Hutchinson also remains at the club after a £35 million bid from Nottingham Forest was rejected.
Liam Delap has been the only major departure this summer, and with a squad more than capable at this level, and a manager who guided the club to two successive promotions, there is excitement at Portman Road ahead of the 2025/26 term despite the return to the Championship.
The Tractor Boys are red-hot favourites to win promotion back to the top-flight, and if you were Davis, another season as a key player in a potentially dominant Ipswich side could be a more enticing prospect than a lack of guaranteed minutes in the Premier League.
