Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor says that his team’s approach won’t change for facing an improving Leicester City side this weekend.

The Cityzens travel to The King Power Stadium to take on the Barclays Women’s Super League’s bottom club on Saturday lunchtime.

Leicester City secured their first positive result of the season in the Barclays Women’s Super League when they defeated Brighton & Hove Albion at The King Power Stadium last time out. The Foxes have also performed well in two domestic cup fixtures since that victory.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Manchester City boss Taylor said that his side’s approach won’t change despite Leicester City’s improved performances in recent weeks.

“The approach is the same,” Taylor said. “We played them and had a closely-contested game in the Continental Cup recently.

“I think Willie (Kirk) is a good coach, he’s got some change in there, he’s managed to do some business in the transfer window.

“They managed to get their first points on the board which was no surprise. They’ll be back on their home patch looking to do their very best and put in the best performance that they can.

“For us, it’s a good game, nothing changes in our approach. We will concentrate on this game and it is one that we are looking forward to.”

Manchester City and Leicester City are the first clubs to play this weekend. Taylor went on to say that he prefers an early Saturday kick-off to a late Sunday slot.

He said “All we can do is put our points on the board and give our best in the performance. I prefer to play in this game than the last one on a Sunday evening if I’m honest. We restarted with that one at West Ham where everyone else had played and we were the last ones to play but how ever it falls, is the way it falls. It is an early start for us but we will be ready for it.”

Manchester City’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Leicester City kicks-off at 11.30am on Saturday morning.
