There is “no certainty” regarding the future of Simone Inzaghi at Inter Milan as Man United consider the 47-year-old a target.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
At the moment, Inzaghi is under contract with Inter until the end of June 2025.
The Nerazzurri coach earns a total of €5.5 million net per season.,
And there is no doubt that Inzaghi will expect a significant pay raise if he is to sign a new deal with the Nerazzurri.
The Corriere report that Inzaghi will want at least €7 million net per season if he’s to stay on.
That would reflect the former Lazio coach’s growing stature. Both within the club, and also in terms of his reputation around Europe.
Inzaghi is now well aware that he could almost certainly earn more elsewhere.
The Premier League would be the logical choice for any coach looking to maximize their earnings. And Manchester United are among the clubs interested.
The Red Devils could part ways with former Ajax and Twente coach Erik ten Hag at the end of the current season.
And Inzaghi would be somewhere close to the Premier League giants’ list of prospective replacements for the Dutchman.
That means that Inter have work to do in convincing Inzaghi to sign a new deal.
Naturally, the 47-year-old is quite happy at Inter. Leaving would mean walking out on a project with a strong sense of potential. It would also mean adjusting to a new league and country.
But nothing is set in stone just yet. Inter will know that they have to convince their coach with the right financial offer, as well as satisfying other conditions.
For example, Inzaghi certainly will not want to see any important leave this summer.
Right now the focus is on the pitch. But at the end of the season, Inter will head into negotiations with Inzaghi, knowing they can’t take anything for granted.
