After an injury-hit first-half of the season, Plymouth Argyle defender Brendan Galloway has been in impressive form for the Pilgrims as they look to avoid relegation to League One.

Since moving to Home Park in the summer of 2021, the Zimbabwe international has suffered a number of injuries, and despite being in his third season at the club, he only reached 60 appearances in his last outing for the club.

However, since returning from injury in November 2023, Galloway has remained fully fit and had a run of games, showing what he's capable of when fit and available.

His recent run of games is the longest he's managed to stay fit during his time in Devon, and his form has led to clubs like Coventry, Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers keeping tabs on him, according to The Sun.

His contract at Home Park expires this summer, so unless he signs a new deal, he will be available on a free this summer.

Despite his impressive form, it would be a risk for any club to sign Galloway as he's injury prone and, at the age of 27 has played just 117 games of senior football.

Carlton Palmer on a potential Plymouth departure for Brendan Galloway

Former England international and current pundit Carlton Palmer believes that it would be a no-brainer for clubs to take a punt on Galloway if he continues his current form, despite his injury woes.

He said, “A host of clubs are interested in Plymouth’s left-sided defender, Brendon Galloway - to name a few, Coventry, Middlesbrough and Blackburn.

“The 27-year-old has revived his career at Plymouth, where he has made 60 appearances for the Pilgrims, including helping them win promotion to the Championship last season, and has featured 17 times in the current campaign, where he played very very well.

"The reason why Plymouth have not tied him down on a long-term deal is because of his injury record. He hasn’t played a lot of football and that is a worry, but he has revived his career at Plymouth, and it will be hard for them to keep hold of him. "Obviously, these clubs will look at him, and if he’s available on a free, then of course, it’s a no-brainer to take a gamble on a player who is playing well. “It’s a gamble that the Pilgrims decided to take, and it’s a low-risk and high-reward signing for any club that wants to take him on a free transfer. “Plymouth knew that was a possibility, but Galloway will recognise that he’s onto a good thing with Plymouth and without a doubt the past few years have probably been the most enjoyable of his career so far.

“I think Plymouth still hold the cards when it comes to re-signing him, but as of yet, the rumours are that there hasn’t been any talk of a new contract, and they’re probably waiting until the end of the season to see if they retain their Championship status."

The former Everton man has made 20 appearances for the Pilgrims this season, with 17 of them coming at Championship level.

The central-defender, who can also play on the left, is a very capable Championship player and if it wasn't for injuries he'd comfortably have been a top player at this level.

According to Sofascore, Galloway has a 70% passing success rate, has three clean sheets, makes 1.1 interceptions per game and 1.3 tackles per game.

It's been an unexpected turnaround for Galloway at Plymouth and everyone at the club will be hoping this can continue as they look to avoid a relegation battle.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Zimbabwe international, but he's showing what a quality player he can be at this level.
