Back in the summer, one exciting capture for Huddersfield Town was Delano Burgzorg.

The Dutch attacker joined the Terriers on loan from German Bundesliga outfit Mainz, having previously had spells in both the Netherlands and Italy.

Huddersfield Town have option to buy Delano Burgzorg

At the time of the transfer, Huddersfield Town confirmed that they had the ability to make the move a permanent one at the end of the season should they wish to do so.

Since then, Burgzorg has gone on to feature 21 times for the club in the Championship, scoring six goals and registering one assist.

Have his performances been good enough for the club to take up the option to buy him permanently, though?

To help us answer this, we spoke to FLW's Huddersfield Town fan pundit Graeme Rayner for his thoughts on the matter.

“If the option to purchase is as rumoured around £1 million then it’s a no-brainer for me because he has bags and bags of potential and ability on the ball.” Graeme explained to FLW.

“He’s frustrating because he does seem to want to take a few extra touches, but he’s only 25, he’s still got a few years to get into his prime and adjust to the UK.

“I would take up the option and then keep him for another year and we’ll make a profit on him either way.

“I think he’s got loads of potential and he hasn’t really, because of the different systems and managers, he hasn’t managed to nail down one particular spot as his own.

“He’s had injuries as well so it would be really nice to see him get a sustained run in the side.”

Of course, if Huddersfield Town are to even consider making Burgzorg's switch to the club permanent this summer, it will rely on them still being a Championship side.

Unfortunately, at present, that is not guaranteed, with the club still looking over their shoulders nervously.

As you can see, though, the Terriers do have a five point gap between themselves and the bottom three at present, and the hope will be that they can continue to move further away from the dotted line as the season goes on.

Indeed, the sooner they secure their Championship status, the sooner they can begin to plan their summer deals, one of which will be deciding whether or not to make Burgzorg's stay at the club permanent.
