Kieran Tierney’s future at Arsenal remains shrouded in uncertainty as his loan spell at Real Sociedad draws to a close.

The Scottish left-back has enjoyed a successful stint in Spain, but with his Arsenal contract still intact, the question of where he’ll play next season lingers.

Kieran Tierney, currently on loan at Real Sociedad from Arsenal, admits he’s thoroughly enjoying his time in Spain. With his loan spell ending this summer, the Scottish left-back leaves the door open for a range of possibilities, including a potential return to Arsenal.

Tierney was a regular starter for Arsenal before the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko. The increased competition led to a loan move to Real Sociedad, where he’s rediscovered his form after another injury, making 15 La Liga appearances with 11 starts and two assists.

“Honestly, this is an incredible experience, I enjoy it. It’s a shame that there is so little time left, there are a good six or seven weeks left of the season,” Tierney told talkSPORT.

When asked about a potential return to Arsenal, Tierney remains open-minded. “In football, you never know. It’s a bit strange that you can come back the way William Saliba did,” he said. “It is strange to be on loan for four years and then return to play. Football is crazy, so we’ll see.”

Tierney admits he hasn’t been in contact with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, acknowledging that his focus is on the remainder of his loan spell. “I’m not talking to Arteta, he’s busy there,” Tierney said.

With Tierney’s Arsenal contract running until 2026, both the club and the player have time to assess his future. Whether he returns to fight for a place at Arsenal or finds a permanent home elsewhere remains to be seen but it certainly seems more likely he will leave than he will get another chance at Arsenal.
