Nnamdi Collins called up to Germany squad | OneFootball

The Eintracht Frankfurt defender has been nominated for the senior team for the first team, while Robin Koch returns.

There will be two Eintracht Frankfurt players in the senior Germany squad for the upcoming international break. Head coach Julian Nagelsmann announced his roster on Wednesday at the German Football Association’s (DFB) campus in Frankfurt, selecting Nnamdi Collins for the first time as well as calling up Robin Koch once more.

Collins, 21, has so far represented Germany at every youth category, making 34 appearances in total across all levels.

Germany begin their FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying campaign next week. Drawn in Group A, they will face Slovakia in Bratislava on Thursday 4 September (kick-off 20:45 CEST) before hosting Northern Ireland in Cologne on Sunday 7 September (also at 20:45 CEST). Their other group opponents are Luxembourg, who they face on 10 October.

Head coach Julian Nagelsmann said: “Nnamdi Collins played well at the U21 European Championship. He really established himself in Frankfurt last year and played a lot of minutes. He has very good physical attributes, is really fast, and plays a bit more defensively in Frankfurt than he did in the U21 national team, where he was a full-back. That suits us. He recently played as a centre-back at Eintracht. I’m not going to say just yet where he’ll play for us, but maybe it’ll be a mixture of both. He’ll do well.”

Nagelsmann also gave his thoughts on another Eintracht player: “Nene Brown would have been called up too, but he only recently returned to training and had a couple of minutes of action in Frankfurt’s last game. After his injury and his holiday, he’s physically not quite ready yet.”
