This is what went down.

Dominant Portugal see off Czech Republic

Scorers: Cancelo 33′, Guedes 38′.

There were no signs of fatigue from Cristiano Ronaldo, as a hard-working performance from the veteran number seven saw him finish the game with a win but no goals to his name.

The first goal was made in the blue half of Manchester, as Bernardo Silva found João Cancelo just outside the box with almost telepathic accuracy as the latter fired into the far corner of the net with power and accuracy.

With this strike, Cancelo had either scored or assisted in all three of his Nations League matches for 2022/23.

Bernardo was provider once again just five minutes later, when his ball set Gonçalo Guedes up to make the most of an awkward body position to put Portugal 2-0 up.

It was a sublime performance from the midfield man, as Portugal took care of business.

Spain pick up narrow win

Scorers: Sarabia 14′.

Spain failed to make plenty of possession and seven attempts on goal count for more than a 1-0 win over Switzerland.

La Roja had Switzerland pinned back right from the get-go, and after a quarter of an hour made the breakthrough when Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso squared the ball to Pablo Sarabia, who connected with the ball at full stretch to find the back of the net.

Sarabia has now scored seven goals & provided two assists since June 2021, more than any other Spanish player in this 12-month period.

In truth, Spain could’ve won by a higher scoreline, but seem to be lacking a prolific goalscorer.

Norway fail to break down ten-man Slovenia

Norway couldn’t find a breakthrough, despite dominating ten-man Slovenia.

Star man Erling Haaland was looking to score in his eighth successive game for Norway, and with a record showing 18 goals in just 19 games for his country, it was no surprise that he went close to putting his side in front in the 47th minute, forcing a good save from a headed attempt.

Slovenia were down to ten men when Angers’ new signing Miha Blažič was sent off for a wild tackle on Haaland just after the hour. Then it was Martin Ødegaard’s turn to go close, as the Arsenal man hit the crossbar with a superb free-kick.

But it just wasn’t to be for Norway, as they ended the tie with a goalless draw.

Jović bags winner for Serbia

Scorers: Jović 45+2′.

Sweden huffed and puffed, but couldn’t find the net versus Serbia, whose individual quality shone through in a 1-0 win.

Real Madrid’s Luka Jović put Serbia ahead just before the half-time whistle, finishing with a right-footed effort from a corner won by Lazio star Sergej Milinković-Savić.

It was the first time that Jović had scored in back-to-back games for Serbia at senior level as they took all three points.
