There were plenty more Nations League fixtures to enjoy on Monday.
This is what went down.
Scorers: Wind 21′, Olsen 37′
Denmark cruised to a convincing 2-0 victory versus Ralf Rangnick’s Austria, for the second time in a week.
The Danes were by far the better side from the outset, and they found a breakthrough when Wolfsburg’s Jonas Wind opened the scoring after 21 minutes, and it didn’t take long for that lead to be doubled as Andreas Skov Olsen netted the second.
Austria managed plenty of possession throughout the encounter, but it was Denmark who deserved the victory thanks to having created more clear-cut chances.
Scorers: Modrić 5′,
This fixture was a repeat of the World Cup final in 2018, but this time there was no resounding victory for France, as Croatia came away with a shock 1-0 win at the Stade de France.
The home crowd were unhappy from the start as the referee awarded Croatia a penalty when Ibrahima Konaté was judged to have clipped the heels of Ante Budimir inside the first five minutes.
When VAR confirmed the decision, Luka Modrić converted the spot-kick, even though Mike Maignan got a hand to the Real Madrid man’s effort.
From that point onwards France were relentless in pursuit of an equaliser, but couldn’t find a breakthrough against a resolute and well-organised Croatia side.
Tomorrow’s fixtures include England v Hungary, Germany v Italy, Netherlands v Wales, Poland v Belgium, Armenia v Scotland and Ukraine v Ireland.
